Hobo with a Shotgun, 2011 (dir. Jason Eisener)
My favorite movie of 2011, I’m so happy it made a post on thefinalimage, I needed this movie in my childhood along with robocop and total recall, the 80’s look felt right at home with the cheezy plot. Please don’t take this movie seriously and just have fun.

We apologize for our appearance…
Well it looks like Wednesday has come and gone and I still don’t have a track up! Sorry about that, I actually got a little side tracked, and actually came up with the idea and foundation for an original track which I just have to finish and mix into the existing podcast.

Creative timidness
I remember reading once that although writers get writers block, nobody gets talkers block. You always have something to say, this is because talk is cheap motherfucker!! lol jk but seriously, words are said and forgotten almost instantly, but when you write you’re dedicating your thoughts to final form to be brought up on paper or digitally. This brings up a mental block that I like to call creative timidness rather than writers block because it can happen in any creative form of self expression. There is no cure for creative timidness, only therapy. Which includes creating even more art, realizing that not everything you create has to be top notch. Some times you just have to create for the sake of practice which is what I’m doing this very moment.

Random
As Halloween approaches and the city rids any evidence of a noreastern like the crooked cops it’s breeds. I oversee the streets with due diligence, caring for her like a good son to an ill mother. Appreciative of her lessons to me growing up, the kinds that shape by carving rather than molding, avoiding replicas and creating unique beautiful pieces to be admired the world over. For this I thank you. New York City… I love you.

Ditching Halloween
The second half of this year has been interesting and empty as far as parties go. See it all started when I went to Miami in March the week during ultra fest, a trip I will never regret because of the awesome people I met and the great friends I became closer to. The problem with the trip was the lack of planning and set finances dedicated for the trip. Let me explain, I was conform in not going to Miami due to the lack of funds and planning but later revisited my decision once I received a convincing phone call from my close friend Hollywood (Steven). This led me to booking my trip and flying out to Miami the next day putting all expenses on my credit card (ouch) stupid and great move at the same time. Needless to say the trip caught up to me and I had to miss several great parties here in NY, like memorial day weekend and labor day weekend among several other parties, which brings me to the title of this post! As soon as I got my finances in order, there was an unexpected charge in my checking account which led to over drafting on my checking account, which then began accruing several penalty fees on my account, not fun. I quickly put a stop to this hemorrhaging account, closed it and changed my direct deposit. Except the FDNY (my employer) hadn’t made the the change fast enough, and now my money was deposit into a non existent / imaginary account. Still with me? Too make a fucking long story not that Fucking long, this paycheck will be returned to the city and will be bundled with the next paycheck! Therefore I’m on grind mode and getting free meals from OWS until I get paid. Ditching Halloween this year…

How to take your eye off the prize
The title is a little misleading as this post is less of a ‘how to’ and more of a ‘how shit went down’. See it started way back when in the days of highs-school. I took the SAT’s but didn’t have a clear path for college, I had no idea what the hell I wanted to study, all I knew was that I loved music, mainly hip hop/rap (although my compositions were heavily synthesized and sounded nothing like the music i listened to). In that regard I decided that my best option was going to be 5 towns college in dix hills, but at $7,800 a semester I soon realized that this was a stretch, no student loans, my parents had bad credit and didn’t leave 40 grand so I could keep my head in the books. My only option was to sell crack, just kidding my actual decision fared a lot worse though. I joined FDNY emergency medical services, at first I thought this would be a great way to pay for school! then the comforts of a cushy city job kicked in, the pension, the benefits etc. Then the economy went south which further solidified my decision in joining EMS. Now after 7 years with the FDNY i think its finally time to go to school for audio, although I am going to take a different route than originally planned. The new route is going to be DubSpot, and studying their DJ and Sound design courses. Music production is still a dream for now, and i wont be leaving my cushy city job anytime soon, but at least i still have my eye on the prize. Dont get too comfortable, and dont settle.

The DJ Mothership: Traktor Pro 2 + NI’s Controllers – X1, S4, Maschine | Dubspot Blog →
Ever since the advent of the Native Instruments Maschine controller, I consider myself a native instruments whore. Wishing I could find the time in my busy day to enroll in one of Dubspots awesome courses, I’d figure I can dream while watching this awesome video by Dubspots own DJ Endo.
